How do I get another icon instead of the Explorer icon at the left in my URL address bar? I think it's an IE deal only...
See example here: Greetings
Rasmus

all you have to do is create a 16 x 16 pixel 256 colour bmp in any graphics apckage that you have.

open this up in microangelo (linkk below) and save it as an .ico file.

Put this file into the root folder of your site.

Don't you then have to include some html to tell the browser to use that icon? I know this question has been answered several times before, I just can't remember what the html is, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now. Tracy Dryden

Just put an icon named : 'favicon.ico' in your root directory or use a reference to it in the head tags :

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="
It only works in IE though (at least I think so I havn't tested it in netscrap)

You can get more info and also make simple icons at Regards

I've tried this I don't know how many times in IE 5.5 and it won't work :-( I read the whole tutorial at favicon.com and it's still not working. Any ideas why it might not be working?

For some reason its not very reliable. I've had favicons appear and disappear without any discernable reason. It's a cute trick, but you can't rely on it. One thing you can try is using a relative URL instead of a full one, like this:
Code:
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico">
Also, the semicolon at the end is superfluous. HTML doesn't use semicolons, javascript does.
