I need to add all dialed strings under the 262 area code to our ARS table as a local. Right now there are quite a few 262xxx entries in the ARS table. Some 262 numbers can be dialed as local from our building, and some cannot. Is there one entry I can add to the ARS table to make all 9,1-262-xxxx dialed numbers local?

Matthew, try changing your ARS using the following command so that 262 is specified as a home numbering plan prefix.

cha ars ana 262

Simply replace the Min, Max and Route Pattern to your specifics.

ARS DIGIT ANALYSIS REPORT

Partitioned Group Number: 1

Dialed Total Route Call Call Node
String Min Max Pat Type Type Number

262 7 7 3 hnpa

press CANCEL to quit -- press NEXT PAGE to continue

Just add 1262, 11min, 11max, your local trunk #, and hpna. That should take care of any 262 number. You may have to delete the rest of the 1262 numbers.

MatthewM,

Your solution may/may not be this simple. According to the NANP PL-174 your NPA 262 allows 7 and 11-digit local (HNPA) calling. The fix outlined would only affect users dialing 1262.

I don't have a reference for local vs. extended vs. long distance calling area from your PBX. If all 262 numbers are local, no problem. If some are extended or long distance you'll have to identify them in order to route/deny them properly. You may have to build an RHNPA table.

The Planing Letter mentioned something about local approval of 10-digit dialing. This is something else to consider.

Sorry, if this gets more complicated. We've got seven local NPA's and have a mixed 7/10-digit local calling area. I worked through this the hardway (trial and error).

Thanks, WHCARon
