I recall seeing a post a few months ago where someone figured out how to setup a new remote user for RPC/HTTPs access without them establishing a TCP/IP connection first.

It had to do with creating the profile locally on an other PC then exporting/importing some registry keys.

Does anyone have that post? or better yet recall the steps to do this? I have to setup a mailbox on a remote user's PC that will never be conencted to the server via VPN.

Try setting up RPC/HTTPS on a client on the local LAN logged on as the user in question. Once you've got everything set up and have set the client to try RPC/HTTPS on both fast and slow connections, connect with the client. Then open Regedit and export this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\%profilename%

%profilename% is whatever you named the new profile that you set up.

Then import that key on the remote computer after you've set up a new (indentically named) profile on that remote computer.

I believe that registry key holds the config information from the RPC/HTTPS connection, but I'm only 88% sure. I looked for that prior article too, but couldn't find it. This is the result of my own experimentation and comparing profiles on my system that do and don't have RPC/HTTP set up.
