Adding network to catalyst

I have a Cisco Catalyst 4506 in a small office. Currently there is only subnet 192.168.10.0/24 but I need to add another subnet192.168.20.0/24. I would like to add them to the same vlan 1. How do I do that?

If it has to be in the same vlan (not good practice) then the only way to do that is add the new network as a secondary address on the vlan 1 SVI
 
You have a layer 3 switch, make another vlan and configure a port or a virtual port for inter vlan routing.

I would encapsulate 802.1q or ISL and place in a differnt vlan. You should seperate voice and data. ALso you may want to look at QOS if your network slows down...

your best bet is to creat another SVI say "vlan 2 and add that subnet range under that and then just put the ports into vlan 2 that you want on this new address range . Why do you want to leave the ports in vlan 1 ????

I was hoping to just keep things simple. Plus, I was hoping to avoid another vlan. But it is looking as if I will have to create the second vlan and just add the ports.

As described here you cant do that.

How can you add a subnet address to a vlan? you can add an ip address to a layer3 interface as secondary, is that what you mean?

Regardless, i wouldnt recommend doing that, it is simpler to create another layer3 interface either physical or logical and add your new default gateway address for your new subnet to that. all you need to do after is switchport access vlan [id] on the interface range of switchports you need.

Yes that is correct you add the secondary to the layer 3 SVI , thought that was understood . I did recccomend he add a second SVI and apply the ports into the new vlan .
