Adding Hardware to an NT workstation ?

With NT, you must install the hardware and then use the drivers on cd that come with the hardware...here is the process....
First off, for both devices, install the hardware to the PC.....(I presume you already have a cd-rom??)
Next, get the CD (or floppy if no rom) that comes with the hardware, lets take the soundcard first.
When you put in the CD you should get an installiation window that pops up automatically. If not, Explore the CD and look for setup.exe in the root directory, (or Eng or NT folder)
when you double click setup.exe, you should get a step by step installation procedure which should be basic enough with not too many options. When setup is finished, you may need to reboot the PC.
The CD-ROM works in the same way, but if you dont have a CD-ROM already installed, then you will need to use the floppys that come with it... to run the setup you can go to Start->Run and type in A:\setup.exe and go through the steps...

I have the soundcard up and running. I went into control panel then multimedia and installed my proper drivers.
I am still working on the ROM install. Its weird because I have never had to "install" a CDROM. Infact, my ME partition utilizes it with no problem.
I am going to take your advice and try to find some kind of installation exe I can put on a floppy and run.

Is there not a CD that comes with the ROM, it should contain the drivers that you need. Or because its a CD-ROM it might come with a set of floppy disks, you shouldnt have to download any exe's (drivers) if you just bought it new...

Do you have a SCSI or IDE CD-ROM?

Primary/Secondary and Master/Slave?
Is the BIOS set for none or is there an Auto or even a CD setting?
I had a really wierd problem with a second hard drive using ME. If I set it up in the BIOS then my PC would not boot except in Safe Mode. So, I removed the D: drive from the BIOS and then ME worked fine and the hard drive showed up! Go figure. Still haven't understood that.
