Hi everyone
Problem:
When I choose to install an ndps printer for winNT it works fine, the drivers are automatically installed.
But when I try to install the same printer on winXP it can´t find the drivers and I have to install them manually.

I have installed the drivers accordingly to:

After I have done this I can find the drivers in "resources" on the broker.

But the drivers are still reported as "wrong" when I try to install the printer on winXP.
What could be wrong ?

/Dan

Did you configure the correct driver within the printer agent itself? The broker is only a repository of drivers, but you have to tell the printer agent with driver to use. I think that is what you're missing.

Hmm, how do I do that ? Do you have an url which explains ?

ok here's easy way

go to print driver web site and download the 2000/xp driver for your printer

open up nwadmin32 from public\win32 dir or imanage if you prefer

go to your broker object and then bottom tab can remeber name something resource
select the resource - select win 2000 tab - there is no xp tab
select browse and then browse to the inf file of your downloaded driver
and then add the driver - it may say overwrite existing one
say yes as you have just downloaded the latest and greatest anyway
now go to your printer object and then go to tab that has default configuration on it and select modify
then the 2000 tab and then select the appropriate print driver
then on the person or container that you are flashing the driver to click update driver
hey presto bob's your aunty - perfect printing

Terry712, I follow you all the way down to "say yes as you have just downloaded the latest and greatest anyway"
But after that I loose you.
When you talk about the printer object I assume you mean that I should click on the printer object in nwadmin. But when I do that I can´t find a tab which says "deafult configuration".
The only tabs I have on the right is:
"Printer control", "Access control", "Configuration", "NDPS remote printer management"
And under none of these tabs is there a tab which could identify with an OS, and there aren´t any buttons which says "modify" either.

What did I miss ?

sorry Terry, I was not looking hard enough ;) I found it under the configuration tab.
Thanks a lot bro !

Another question though:
When I choose the driver for the printer there are four to choose from, why is this ? Can this be tweaked by modifying the .inf file for the drivers ?
