Adding DeTeWe handsets to Option 11 DMC8 Card

Hi Everyone,

Firstly: thanks for all the useful advice on this forum. Its been incredibly useful.

My problem is that we have an Option 11 with the MDECT System attached to it (using a DMC8 card). Originally we had 12 C4500 Dect Handsets (these are supposedly Nortel / BT handsets but I think they're just rebadged). Unfortunately the handsets are all falling apart so we want to replace them.

We use DeTeWe handsets at two of our other sites so I tried registering a DeTeWe openphone 27 handset onto the DMC8 which worked fine. In fact the new C4600 handsets from Nortel look like they are rebadged DeTeWe OpenPhone 26/27's. However, the ringing behaviour is a little strange.

When someone calls the new handset internally the phone rings. However, if someone transfers an external call to this handset it doesn't ring - but the phone's display flashes and I can pick up the call by taking the phone off hook. The only problem is that it doesn't make a noise!

My question is this: how much control does the Meridian have over the ringing of the Dect handset? There are options on this handset to change the ringer melody for internal or external calls but even if I change it it plays the same melody. Is the switch telling the phone what melody to play? Is it signalling an invalid melody for external calls which is why this handset doesn't ring?

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to put as much info in as possible.

Thanks for any help.

Phil.
