I have been trying for sometime now to add an existing laptop to the server without success.

I have done the following on the Server:

Add User
Add Computer.

Now I would like to add the laptop to the server. The first test is to access a printer defined on the server.
When I use the printer wizard on the laptop, I choose the "Browse for Printer" option. When the name of the server comes up, I double click to look for printers and nothing shows.

Please, any help or direction would be helpful...

XP home cannot be added to a domain (not integrated at least). The reason why you cannot see the printer might be because you are not authenticated to that server. Try authenticating first by going to the server "\\server " through your browser. It will ask you for a domain username and password. After that you should see the printer. After you get connected to that server \\server you should see the printer (if it is shared from there). Just double click on it and it will map you to it automatically.

I hope this helps

Adrian,

Thank you very much. It now sees the printer and I can map network drives...

IIRC, you will have to manually map the resources after every logoff, as XP Home doesn't persist mapped domain resources without a bad hack that compromises domain security.
