Adding an ATA to an existing system

We've taken delivery of an Analogue Terminal Adapter to add to our existing 6x8 Norstar switchboard.

(I guess its ATA and not ATA2. Looks like its labeled ATA 1B)

We would like to be able to answer calls on a cordless phone if possible. Transferring calls is not such a requirement, but if this is possible it would be of use.

The ATA clearly has an input and an output, each with two core cables.

My question is: Simply put, how do I connect the ATA to
i) the Norstar system (does this just go in where the line exits to the patch panel?) and
ii) the anologue phone (ie Do I take the two cables directly to two terminals of an analogue phone socket?)

Sorry to be so dumb, but I'm not a phone engineer, and I am aware that what I'm trying to do is a bit brave!

Thanks for the advice.

i'm not aware of a 6X8 system - pls find the correct model of the system u have
Then on the FAQs tab, there are wiring details for all the models.
if you have a norstar digital phone working, remove that, 'insert' the ATA and analog phone

Sorry, our norstar supports 6 inbound lines, up to eight extensions are connected.

Can the ATA be fitted at the 'desk' where the analogue phone will be used, or does it need to go in at the switchboard?

Do you require one ATA per analogue phone?

Is the analogue phone simply connected to the two output cables?

Thanks for the quick response!

You can put it at the desk or the equipment board...it does not matter which. A vendor would typically put it at the board to keep everything neat and orderly.

You can put more than one analog phone on an ATA, but you can only use them one at a time.

don’t know what you are referring to regarding two output cables

This is typically an operation for your vendor since the
ATA port may need to be programmed to work the way you desire.

Simply connect the digit DN port to the ATA
and have an analog phone connect to the analog phone port.
I think there is a power cube with ATA, make sure that is also plugged into wall.

You can transferring calls by "flash * 70" then extension
number from analog phone.
