I have a drop down that is referrenced via a separate table that only contains the names within the dropdown.

I would like the user to be able to add another record to the dropdown without having to open up the table. What would be the best option for this?

Thanks in advance

Typically the combo shows one field for reference but joins on the ID/PKey field which is in the first, hidden column. If you don't add a record with an ID you have no reference. It is possible to make the reference column the bound column (using the actual text displayed as the value in the table) but this means that you'll have to join based on this field--which you are now allowing free entry into, thus counting on users to type exactly the same for an entry (MISTAKE). There are routines but I haven't used them yet--look up "Not in List Event" in the VB help (ALT + F11 > F1). Also try looking up the same phrase in this forum.
