Adding a PRI to A Prologix V8. Do we need a TN765 PI? 1

We have a customer who has a Definity Prologix V8. They currently have a regular T1 (TN2464) installed. The PRI option is set to yes. Their carrier is bringing in a new PRI circuit.

My question is; do we need to add a TN765 PI to their switch and can we use the existing TN2464 and reconfigure it for PRI?

The Prologix does not support the TN765 board. The Prologix supports ISDN-PRI over the backplane without it. You can use a TN2313 or a TN2464 for the new circuit.

Thanks 4merAvaya! In that case how do we assign the new PRI to the system. I know with the TN765 you need to "add data". Do you do the same thing here. Or, is there a document somewhere that will give us the 'step by step' to get this done.

Define the DS-1 board as usual on the DS-1 form.
Create a Signaling Group using the 24th channel for the 'D'channel.
Build an ISDN-PRI trunk Group.

Thank you once again.
I do have the DS1 set up. But, I added a signaling channel but on page 2 it asks for an extension which normally would be a data module. Do I have to define something there? If so, then what type of device. Also, do I need to set it as permanent and enabled?

I have been checking on Avaya's website, I found the maintenance manuals but I did not find any of the implementation manuals. Do you have any idea if there is any where I can download the implementation docs for V8/9?

Page 2 of the Signaling Group form is for building/defining Temporary Signaling Connections (TSC) used in DCS environments.

You do not need a data mod for this. Juist build out the DS1 and a sig group and then turn up your T. Unlike the old si's where you needed the 765 and then had to buiold out proc channels.
