Adding a pause after ACOD

Hello all,
Here's what I have so far. I have a customer that enters their ACOD and then a code to page a specific zone. This works fine if they wait a second after the ACOD, but if they dial the page code to quickly after the ACOD it just hangs like it didn't catch the first DTMF digit. Is fixing this a simple as adding a * after the ACOD in LD 16 RDB programming or am I just being to simple minded about this? Will I need to create a table or something to insert the pause after the ACOD is dialed? Just to let you know as well, most of my experience is with very basic MAC's, so if you could dumb down any responses as much as possible I'd appreciate it.

no the * will repeat the last prompt. you can try the , from the term but maybe the trunk type or timers need to be adjusted... are the zones single digit? i have in the past on single digit zones sent repeated digits.. acod 11 for zone 1.. the overhead gave a single tone on all but zone 0.. (all page).. that was the one that seemed to miss the digit

Thanks for the quick response. OK, to answer your questions
1. I tried the , and a few other characters but the SCH error message says they're illegal characters.
2. Trunk type is set as WAT and I've set the tfd to 30
3. The zones are multiple digits, some are 2 and some are 3 (this is a Bogen Multicomm)

I would just tell your users to dial # before dialing the bogen zone code. # basically bypasses the timers, transfers supervision and tells the system more digits are to follow.

Thanks for the response. Personally, I don't know why they can't wait the 2 flippin seconds to enter the page code, but you know customers. Their claim is that this is for emergency paging and they can't wait or enter extra digits, can you believe that, they can't wait 2 seconds. Anyways, I'm beginning to get the impression this isn't doable, and at this point I think that's just what I'll tell my customer. Again, thanks to you and johnpoole both. If you have any other thoughts I'd like to hear them.

Have you tried setting the ODT timer to minimum?
That should reduce the wait time from a few seconds to a fraction.

Actually I hadn't, so I just tried it now, unfortunatly it didn't help. Just to be sure, is the minimun setting 256?

Yes I think the minimum is 256.
Are your trunks actually programmed DTN? You might also try taking the EOD timer down to 128. I remember having a similar problem but can't remember how I fixed it.

I've programmed the trunks as digitone. I also adjusted the EOD timer to 128, although in the books it's says this adjustment is for non-digitone trunks. Regardless, I gave it a try but still no go. I can't believe how much I've learned just from the choice tidbits all three of you have given me on this one post. Many thanks!
