I have a Citrix Farm with five servers. I have taken two of the servers out of production and I just need to add a new (different) server to the farm. Is there anything special I need to do with licensing, or anything else, for that matter to activate this new server to make sure that it is recognized in the farm and will load balance properly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We are running Windows 2000 sp4 Citrix Metaframe XPa FR3 on all of our servers.

I'm a little confused about the load balancing on XPe myself if the servers are quite different in power.

Does it manage it all automatically or do you have to give it ratios. i.e. this server is 60% as capable as this other one.

To my knowledge it manages it all automatically. You can use the load evaluators to load manage your farm. I implemented the Advanced load evaluator for all of our servers, which looks for CPU utilization, Page swaps and Mem usage and it balances great. All of our Servers are not identical in CPU and RAM either. Hope that helps some.

Load manager indeed looks at the values you set...
And indeed.. a more powerfull server will host more users for it´s load balancer load is lower with the same amount of users...
So don´t worry about this.. ;))
