Can I add a 1.6 athlon to a mobo that is rated for 1.4?

it's an msi board 6380....

ok....thanks alot for the link....looks like I'm in business.....
thanks again!

Hi obkt,
This was the most common variant of your motherboard and actually goes to Athlon XP2.1+ Palomino core only.
Palomino was the original XP core (larger and squarer die)
You might struggle buying a new Palomino core XP CPU NOW and will probably have to seek out a well looked after used example.
New XP's are generally Thoroughbred A or B core and Barton for the fastest in the range.

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Note! There is several 6380 versions .
You must check the model no. printed on the board.
