Hello,

Can anybody help? I am in the process of writing a business requirements document that has a number of field codes included in the footer.

The footer also contains text of "V0.1" - this is version 0.1 of my document.

Is there a field code for version number of the document ?

Regards

jamie

Hi taylo40,

Word has a field, REVNUM, which (I think) is the number of times the document has been saved but your versioning scheme is your own and Word has no way of knowing when to increment it.

You will need to set up (and maintain) your own custom property which you can then use in a field.

Enjoy,
Tony

Tony,

Thanks for your help.
Is there any information on creating custom Properties ?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Jamie

Hello again,

I believe I have found the way to create a custom value:-

File>Properties>Custom Tab

I have created a cutom value of "VersionNumber" and given it a value of 0.1.

My final question (honest) is how do I get the 0.1 onto my Word Document ?

Cheers

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Under Insert > Field, choose catergory Document Information, Field DocProperty. Under Options... you'll then find a list of all the built-in and custom properties.

Enjoy,
Tony
