we have a cs1000 rls 5.5 we bought (1) 6120 to set it up and see how well the work before we purchase a lot of them. we have a 2245 (10 license). from what i have been reading i need to configure the 6120 to telephony type 32. however 32 is not an option. there is 30 36 42 44 45 46 47 48 49. i have the HAT software and have downloaded the UNIStim_WLANHandset6100_R3.x_115_025.zip from avaya's website. i then wrote the 5 bin files to the handset. handset reports firmware version 115.025. but if i go into the setting editor and try to "read handset" i get an error. "unable to read setting from the handset. this handset's license is not supported by this version of handsetadmin" i have tried HAT version 2.8.12 and version 2.8.22 is there a process after pushing the firmware to the handset that makes it load it?

Trason, You have the right HAT 2.8.12. I have the same setup as you. New Avaya CS1000 5.5 (10) SIP Licenses and we bought 1 6120 for testing. We found out we need a SIP server to make it work. Although we have been busy and I have stopped all testing. I was successful at connecting via the HAT 2.8.12. My 6120 does have type *32. But I have not gone further. And I am no expert here, but I can say that I had the same issue at first and I had to completely uninstall the "8020" Hat software completely and manually delete folders before I could get the "6120" HAT software to work. I don't know if you have the same setup but all our user phones are 8020's and so I manage them with the other software. What I finally was able to do is install the 8020 on one hard drive and the 6120 on another and I created a shortcut to both. Now I can use the same cradle and setup either type of phone with the two seperate icons on my desktop. I hope this helps a little. I would like to see you post what you come up with if you get your phone working! Maybe soon I can get back to mine!

It's been a while but we have made some progress. We sent the handset off to the vendor and they sent me a diff one. i think the firmware was incorrect. anyway now we have a 6120 with firmware: 115.021. i believe that is the current version. it connected to the access point but gave a no SVP response. turns out the firmware on the 2245 was old. it would work with the older 2200 sets, i think. latest 2245 firmware file was called 173_040.zip which contains functional code 174.040. so now it connects and i started making test calls. works pretty well. only issue i can find is that the phone get some digital cut out or noise when you move around( change access points) the call doesn't drop but gets pretty bad for about a second. I'm pretty sure this caused by switching access points because if i stay in one place the call quality is really good. any ideas? I'm on old phone guy with pretty limited network knowledge. but we do use cysco access points. they are pretty new. less than a year old. anyone have suggestions on where to start addressing this issue?
