I am building a computer to use as a server. I am using a Abit VP6 Dual motherboard. I have (1) 1Ghz PIII cpu, a 16MB video card, and 2 NIC cards. Windows 2000 Server OS and 512MB PC133 ECC Registered RAM. The system was humming like a bird. My customer wants to use the server as a application server in addition to the domain controller. So, I added another 512MB. The exact same. Delivery is tomorrow. I shut down the computer, removed the power plug. I snapped in the new module, tried to restart the system, the fans starts but NO boot. Monitor is blank. I resitted the RAM. No change. I removed the new RAM and tried to boot with the one I was using. Still no boot. I removed the video card and replaced it with another one out of the box. No boot. I tried using other RAM, never used, not ECC no boot. I cleared the CMOS. No boot. Did the new RAM module kill my motherboard? One other thing. I had another identical motherboard in the box never used. I installed it, ran through the same drill. It booted one time with both ECC RAM modules. I rebooted to adjust the CPUs. NO boot. It seems to have killed both boards. Any suggestions other than returning the RAM and hopefully getting the boards replaced?
