I'm working with a SPARCstation 20 running Solaris 2.6. User added an external hard drive and wants to know how to make this new space a part of /opt. I have read thread
60-173126 but I'm still confused.

Reading through this forum, I've seen mention of software called DiskSuite. Could I use DiskSuite to do this? Is this included in the software that came with the Sun machine? If so, which CD has it? If not, can I download it from Sun (free)?

If DiskSuite is not an option, what commands would I use to do what he wants?

Thanks, in advance!

The simplest way would be to create a file system on the disk, then mount the entire disk on a point (directory) below /opt.

This is not really what Disksuite is for. Disksuite is used to provide fault tolerance across multiple disks using mirroring, striping and RAID 5.

Disksuite should be included in the CD set with any new Sun Server. You can probably download it from Sun.com, the package name is SUNWmd.
