add defined name for the excel file

hi all...

i have search through this forum and i found some threads about creating excel file...but what i would like to do is a bit different.

what i would like to do is when client surfing the page, they select some data, after they finish selecting, the data will be written in a excel file. where the excel file have certain format(with headings and name defined)

so i wonder if the excel file can be sent to the cilent?or can the file can be created in client side(with the format created too).

sorry i should make it more clearer...

i have watch the thread that i cannot specify the path and save the file for the client, but how can i give defined name for the atributes in the excel file? the defined name is for later use (about using SQL command to read the data by server).
