add column with autonumber type

I'd like to add a column with the autonumber type. I can't figure it out. I have a couple other columns with autonumber already, so I hope this doesn't cause a problem.

ALTER TABLE myTable ADD COLUMN myAutoNum COUNTER

but a table can't have more than one autonumber column.

My version of Access (2000) only allows one autonumber per table.
