I have a MS SBS NT4 server with 5 CAL, now i want to add more CAL, but i don't know how.
I already try the control panel->licence, but shows a msg to use the SBS server manager to add CAL. I can't find this item in NT4.
Can anyone help me with this subject?
Thanks

Rafael

Rafs:

I've done this with sucess on two Microsoft Server computers. Go to the 'SERVICES' shortcut / icon in the CONTROL PANEL and DISABLE 'License Logging Service'. I have a machine with the basic 5 CALs but have more then 5 users using the server.

Hi rafs,

basically, with SBS, you need to have installed MS Backoffice (it's on the same SBS NT4 CD) and this should install SBS Console - the shortcut will be in your start menu.

Start SBS Console, and click on Small Business Server To Do List - you'll then have an option to Add Client Licenses. Pop your license disk in and away you go.

Good luck.

Rafs:

You have to buy a Client Add-On License from an authorized dealer. What you'd receive is a disk for a capacity of 5 additional licenses. They're not cheap and would run you about $200 US. From what I understand is that you can buy the CALs for SBS2000 and still use it for SBS 4.5.

Have you tried to disable the 'License Logging Service' that I posted in my previous reply?

Thanks tcwinont very much for that advice about the license logging advice - saved my life.

Got stuffed on an install with this license problem - all of a sudden all users couldn't log on.

My only option was to reinstall - but thankfully I read this.

Cheers Mate.

I have the same problem with mailboxes of SBS 4.5. I have upgraded the workstations to Windows 2000 and now 2 users can't log on to their mail even if I see that not all licenses are used.

I can't find the license logging service in my services window.

Please help.

Thanks in advance
