I am upgrading to Exch 2003 and I am just about to install the ADC. Are there any problems with installing this connector that I need to be aware of...for some reason I am a bit hestitant to go forward. Just looking for some good/bad experiences with ADC.
Hi!
Installing the ADC is not dangerous. You have to be very careful when you configure the Connection Agreements. Here are a couple of suggestions which you might find useful:
1. If you have an Exchange 5.5 org and you plan to replicate the info from the Exchange 5.5 directory to Active Directory then you should install ADC and run the corresponding Connection Agreements prior to the installation of Exchange 2003. This will extend partially the AD schema and populate the created attributes.
2. When you proceed with the actual installation of the ADC use the installation files for ADC which comes with Exchange 2003 SP2 (when you extract the SP2 you will see a folder ADC).
3. It is a very common mistake to have forbidden symbols in your Exchange 5.5 organization or site (like “_” for example). Check this prior running the Connection Agreements and if there are such symbols change the name of your Org or Site.
4. It is a good idea to check this article too (Common Mistakes When Upgrading Exchange 5.5/2000 to Exchange 2003):
