I am having a problem. I recently purchased 2 new adaptec cooling fans that are both thermally controlled. My problem is that I don't have enough spots available (or reachable) on my motherboard to plug in the Temp. sensor cables. Is there any way that I can override the sensors so the fans are o nhigh speed constantly? Or, is there some way that I could daisy-chain the cables all into one sensor port?

I'd not advise daisy-chaining to a motherboard connector, just in case the fans try to draw too much current from that single socket. I take it we're talking about the little Molex 3-pin connectors here...?

I've had a similar problem inasmuch as the motherboard in question didn't provide enough connectors for the rear case fans. I ended up cutting off the Molex plug and soldering on a convention 4-pin power connector (same physical size as used for HDD, CD-ROM etc), and then connecting to a one of the unused power leads coming out of the PSU.

Leads from the fan are usually black, red, yellow, with black and red being fed with 12v. Yellow is the sensor, and can be left disconnected.

Trying to make 'em run at full tilt is a different problem. It depends if the thermistor device is accessible on the fan. If it is, then usually snipping off the thermistor (can be dark green 5mm dia) and soldering the wires together will result in the fan running at maximum revs. This mod should be marked with a "skull and crossbones"! Do at your peril!

Good luck.

ROGER.
