AD applied to OU in mixed mode ?

We are migrating to W2k and have been told that it is possible to implement Active Directory to OU's prior to converting to native mode. I was under the assumption that AD can only be used in native mode. Can we in fact use AD
applied to specific OU's while still in a mixed mode enviroment?

Yes, you can. In fact any Win2k machine running as a domain controller must be running active directory and you can apply GPs to OUs
