ActiveX Document EXE ?

I'm just about finished writing an ActiveX Document EXE app. I want my users, who connect via Internet off-site, to be able to access a local Access database for transactions. Can I do this w/an ActiveX Document EXE? Locally my users connect fine, but they have static drive mappings. I'm not sure if my app. is making a request via my drive mapping or if it connects behind the scenes like a RUNAT SERVER ASP page. I'm trying to achieve a RUNAT SERVER ASP type app. remotely and locally.
