hello people,

I am creating a database for work and when creating a new Table, I'm trying to change the Data Type of one of the fields to 'Lookup Wizard'. However, as soon as I do that I get the error message "ActiveX component can't create object". I have done a similar data base a few weeks ago but wasn't faced with such an error. Does anyone know what the error is, and most importantly how to resolve it. I'v tried reinstalling Office which didn't help.

Thank you all in advance.

I was not aware that you could change to a data type 'wizard' If you are certain you did this same thing before, I would guess that you lack an Object Library. If that is the case, go to the Design/ Code mode and look under Tools/References. This will show you the tables your app can access and the ones that are missing.

Hi!

Check this Microsoft link Error Message: ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

But - you really don't want to create table level lookups. You ae never going to allow your users to manipulate data thru the tables, but thru forms. It's much better to create your lookups in the forms in stead (much less headaches;-))
