I have customers who are Users on their PCs having difficulty in Internet Explorer running a company-internal Web Client application that requires ActiveX. Has anyone had any experience giving regular Users rights for ActiveX without having to promote them to Power Users? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, just had to deal with this problem as well, but for outside ActiveX controls.

Check out the following MS articles:

240897, 280579, 241163

Basically you'll need to publish the control via an MSI file, through Active Directory. This will allow them to execute the file as needed.

The problem is that a user has no permissions to the Downloaded Programs Folder, and this is MS's only suggestion on how to allow it.

Which makes it the main reason I disklike ActiveX controls, but that's another thing entirely.
