Hello,

Does anyone know how or why changes to objects in AD take differnet times to take effect? If I change a user's password it takes effect immediately but if I make a group policy change or an Exchange mailbox permission change it can take place immediately or take 15 minutes to 3 hours to take effect. It is really frustrating. I have seen this in environments with only 1 or 2 DC's.

Is there any manual way to push out changes immediately?

Thanks!

Password changes are set to be replicated throughout the AD urgently..

Other changes are only set to change on next scheduled replication. :)

Initiate replication to force the update immediately. Or create the AD objects on the DC nearest to the effected user.

There is many ways to manually initiate replication...you can use Replemon (Support Tools on 2K or 2K3 server CD rom.) You can also go into Site and Services and initiate replication between specific DC's...

...hope this helps..
