Hi,

I had Active Directory installed...

I decided to remove it and run dcpromo from the domain controller.

My active directory was setup with a name like:

company.local

I was using it for internal purposes only.

I had a machine on my network named: webserver

but for some reason once I removed Active Directory.. the other computer named Webserver now has a named like

webserver.company.local

How can I remove the company.local from my computer name.

I went into the system section (im using windows 2000 server) and it says the computer name is: webserver

however the FULL computer name shows : webserver.company.local

Is there a way I can fix this so my computer has the name just : webserver

I changed my computer back to a "workgroup", but still no luck..

Any help greatly appreciated.
