I've recently put an ACS 6.0 system in a Pro Ball Player's House

I hooked up 14 Partner Eurostyle phones and a couple of basic Panasonic cordless sets they already had as extensions for them and told them they wouldn't receive Caller ID on the Cordless sets at all..

However I was partly wrong, when they are already on one of the Panasonic cordless phones and a call comes in, you can see the caller ID for the second caller on the Panasonic Cordless sets through call waiting. But, if a call comes in and the cordless set is unoccupied it says "incoming call" only

Any thoughts on how to get the caller ID to show up on the Panasonic cordless phone when a call comes in and they are not on the line, I didn't assign these extensions with caller ID anyways so I'm kind of baffled how caller ID is appearing

I'm going to take a stab at this one. I hope I can explain my theory clearly. [smile]

With caller ID service, the information for the initial call is sent between the (I believe) 1st and 2nd rings. The information is "intercepted" by the Partner ACS processor and displayed on system telephones as the processor goes through the call set-up processing.

While you are on the call, the Partner ACS is no longer doing any sort of call set-up processing so the information sent by the telephone company for the second call passes right through the Partner ACS processor and displays on the Panasonic handsets.

What are the extension numbers of the cordless?

The extensions are 22 and 23.. They aren't even plugged into a caller ID capable module now that I think of it.. Its just a regular 206e module they are plugged into

I have no answer for you. I would like to see it for myself.

Yeah I couldn't believe it either, but now that they see caller ID on the cordless sets they always want it to appear on the non system cordless sets and they won't take no for an answer..

Dex hit it on the head - Call Waiting CID is passed during the active call, so it gets to the cordless phone even though it is an extension (doesn't matter WHICH extension).

Regular CID comes between the 1st and 2nd ring. If you answer too quickly you miss it. The Partner captures it and shows it to display phones, but does NOT echo it to S/L analog devices.

I wish I could nail more questions like that. [sadeyes]

If the customer wants to utilize call waiting ID (or whatever their LEC calls the service), they could purchase a few AT&T 436 caller ID adjuncts and connect them to the AUX ports on the bottom of the system phones. The first call's information will show up on the system phones' display and a 2nd call's information will show up on the AT&T adjunct. [smile]

14+ extensions in a house? [bugeyed] They must live in a mansion! [surprise]

Yeah the main house is 18,000 square feet.. Doesen't include the guest house thats attached to it..

I'm going there tommorrow to put in a couple of door phones so I'll just tell them they have to get system cordless phones if they want caller ID on them.. Thanks for the help guys..

Avaya's only cordless phone still in production is the 3910. It is somewhat limited in functionality. Most vendors will not sell the recently discontinued 9040.
