I have just installed 2k pro on an oldish laptop ,
all good apart from the the shutdown it doesn't power off , i know this is an acpi thing which i have now spotted disabled in the bios , question is the o/s is on the laptop now , is there a regedit or something that will allow me to enable this function since i have finished the build on it ?

Here is Microsoft's official comment on the subject of changing HALs. Better read the warnings first. I am struggling with this same issue in Windows XP at the moment and have not gotten it corrected yet. The following are specific to W2K though.

Here's the one that did NOT work for me, but W2K IS listed in this procedure as well, so give it a shot.

i shall give this ago when i get to the laptop again , looks quite promissing , thanks
