Hi

I have a Compaq Presario 1700 Internet zone.

The OS on it whas WinMe.

I installed win2000 professional on it to get a dual boot system. Now if I reboot my system I can choose wich OS to pick. But If I pick my new Win 2000 I get an error that the ACPI-BIOS of this system is not compatible with the ACPI specifications.

When I now pick my old winMe I will see the start up screen of it for a second and then my pc starst again with the compaq logo.

What can I do about this??

Some info about my bios

PhoenixBios 4.0
Release 6.0
System Bios Revision 06/26/2001

best regards
Roel

I would try to update the BIOS...

There is also a setting within the BIOS which regulates the usage of the ACPI setting, try the different settings to see if that alleviates the problem...

other than that I am at a loss, as that I haven't dealt with this problem til now...

Howdy:

Try booting into BIOS and disabling APM.. Now try it..

The trick is to install W2K with F5 and specify APM machine, not ACPI machine (like w98/me is).
