acp_fail, what does it mean?

We recently experienced a complete loss of communication on our Definity last week. System administration via LAN or dialup was not possible, the only way to talk to the CPU was via console port.

Looking at the CPU leds, both units appeared to be normal one active and one in standby. However the active unit displayed an acp_fail error, after swapping cpus the unit formerly on standby displayed the same error, but strangely enough it went away after a few seconds later without any intervention from me and the system returned to normal.

Any ideas as to what caused this error and how do I prevent it from recurring?

Go into the display alarms and look under resolved alarms. Also look under the display errors resolved errors. With the information that you can gather from these two logs, it should point you in the right direction as to what failed and possible causes.
