I have worked on over 10 PC's with this problem in the last week alone. There are 10 to sometimes 35 accounts unknown with no folder in the Documents and Settings folder. They only show up in the profiles when you right click on My Computer and click Properties. The unknown accounts usually are small in size (only a few MB); however once I delete all of them the free hard drive space doesn’t increase. If I restart the pc 1 unknown account is created. If I restart 2 or 5 times the same number of account will be created. This only happened to my W2K PC’s. I have never seen this before. I have been formatting and reloading W2K on one PC at a time to correct this problem.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? I could sure use some help.
Thank you!

Michael

Is this a domain environment?

These 'unknown accounts' appear in the user profiles bit of system properties? Are they actually causing you a problem? They normally appear when windows can't tie up profile with an account (eg, if account has been removed and profile not, or they're domain profiles and the doamin is not currently available).
