This is a small home network. My Win98 pc has file & printer sharing enabled. W98 local printer & C drive is shared. W98 pc & Wxp pc are in the same workgroup. Network protocol on both is tcp/ip. (xp is a laptop).

Problem is I can't see the W98 pc from xp.

Is it possible to access a remote share offered by a W98 machine from xp? Google not returning answer so I'm looking here for what to check - also I'm new to xp.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

See if these are helpful (sounds as though you may have a firewall blocking the connections). Make use of the "Ping" command from a Command Prompt to assist you diagnose too.

Many thanks - I opened file & printer sharing & that seems to do the trick.
