I am trying to set up our customers that have AA to where I can access the RAD without user intervention.

I have searched this topic and found threads that say it can't be done in a straightforward manner and other threads that use an ATA and a spare CO port to "RIG" it.

While I am not opposed to being creative, there are not always spare ports available.

I feel quite certain that it CAN be done because the manuals - especially the 7.0 MICS manual - say to use the "DISA DN".

Also, when using NRU 10, one of the options for "Connection Type" is Auto Attendant. When you select that option and try to connect you get the following prompt.(I'm paraphrasing)

Call customer modem line from the same line that the modem is connected to.

When you hear the AA greeting, dial the DISA DN or Auto DN.

When you hear a stutter Dial Tone, dial a Class of Service Password.

When you hear a steady dial tone, enter ***RAD

When you hear the RAD modem tone, click OK and hang up the phone.

Sounds like it can be done, doesn't it?

when programming the rad you have to set the line number you want to use for the rad and when you dial in you dial the number you are using and then when you hear the tone it will connect you, I have not ever used the aa to connect the call, or should I say it would never work

analog port(or digital --> ATA) ---> RAD ---> spare co line port works .

Manually dial # with AA , then enter DN for analog "set" which "answers" the co line .

Same concept that Nortel implements internal modem for BCM50.

You could follow norstargirl's advise and program a D I D number on the ext. that the RAD is using. Then call that number.

CJG3,
I think what you were reading was for the I-Rad in the CICS because that is how you can access it. But I've never been able to access an External Rad that way. If I remember right you also had to be using the AA of the CICS to answer and not a Call Pilot.

hawks,

I think you may be right.
The only docs that show calling in through the AA are the CICS docs.
Of course they don't mention the part about the AA having to be the internal AA.

Most of our customers use CICS but with Call Pilots instead of the internal AA.

Thanks.
