Hi

I am new to the ASA and have got stuck on an issue with the management interface.

I want to access the management interface AND the inside interface from the same machine. When I put in a route from the management interface to my subnet, I cannot access the inside interface. if I add a route to the inside interface, I cannot access the management interface.

How do I get a route so I can access both interfaces from my workstation?

make sure it is in the same subnet as your management interface. Maybe I should have askec some more questions. How is your network set up? multiple subnets? Is the managment in plugged into the same int as the inside int? Are there vlans on that switch?

Hi

The management connection is using the 'man.' interface, the inside (where my workstation is) is using 'inside'. It sounds like the subnets point you mention is right. At the moment the ASA is connecting to a management vlan through the man. interface, and a user vlan through the inside interface, which suggests your solution being correct.

There are vlans on the switch, but as its in test the only attached devices are the ASA and an uplink to the core switch. The management is in the only 'live' vlan and my workstation is connected via the core switch.

Does you workstaion have access to the management vlan? is there a device that is routing between these vlans?

I can access the management vlan from my workstation, and the routing between vlans is done by the msfc on the core switch.

Its ok NetworkGhost i've sussed it out. The Management interface was not enabled for management. I looked through ASDM and saw the setting in there. Thanks for your time.
