I have both Access2000 and Access97 installed while migrating from one to the other. I uninstalled Access97 from 5 computers, of which 3 now have slow running Access2000. I have also uninstalled Office2000 and reinstall, with no improved symptoms. I have tried steps in MS articules 239114 & 200600 with no luck. All 5 computers are W2K with Sp 3 or 4 on them. Office 2000 is SR1a or SP3 on them. I can't see any corrilation based on Service Packs. The last computer that did this, I checked accessing database file before uninstall and file functioned at normal speed (2-3 seconds) After uninstall Access97, database file under Access2000 runs 45-60 seconds . These computers where built 1st with Office2000 installed, then 2ndly Access97 ONLY into different directory. Access2000 executable was renamed to permit Access97 to install and then named back after install. I hope someone here can help out,
Thanks, LeEric Marvin

Ok lets see if this helps.

I assume the user is running the complete office 2000 package and not just access.

I am also assuming that you have convert the access program from 97 to 2000.

Thinks to look at.

(1) Do a compact an repair and see if that works, if not

(2) Registry, get a registry cleaner could help speed it up.

(3) I can not remember where it is, but at one stage office had an auto log built in somewhere and there is a switch to turn it off, in turning it off it boots up office programs a lot quicker.

(4) To make it even faster look at replacing office 2000 with runtime 2000. This is assuming the user does not need to develop access apps.

I had a look around on the web for you but did not find much that would help.

Good luck

Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake
when you make it again.

ZeroAnarchy,

Thanks for tips. I tried Registry cleaning, which didn't help. I didn't try compacting because database worked normal speed on other computers with Access2000. Finally I reinstalled access97 and Access2000 returned to is't former speed and glory. So decided to leave/restore Access97 on the problematic computers and delete icons so user can't accidently use 97. Not the cleanest way of doing business, but saves me many hours of trouble shooting.
