Access to Win2003 Server app. from Netware LAN

Hello,

Our primary LAN server is running Netware 6.5; however, we recently added a Win2003 Server (std.) box for a couple of applications that require an MS O/S platform. All desktop PC's are on WinXP.

The application is installed on the MS box and runs fine. I now need to allow some folks access to this app. from their desktop which is logged in to Novell. Though I can "see" the MS server using Win Explorer, I get the error message "OurServerName is not accessible. You might not have rights, blah, blah" & "Login failure:user account restriction..."

There obviously is more to it than just "sharing" out the application folder. I confess to limited Windows server experience - can someone please offer ideas on what I've missed?

Do not worry about your NetWare server. Just concentrate on the windows side. Set a Workgroup for your workstations and your Win 2003 server. Make sure you specify the same workgroup name in each computer.

You may need to create a new user and group under Computer Management and give it enough permissions to acces the server. This user will have to match the username/password from the client.

You may also need to share the application's file.

If you need to allow printing from the 2003 server, then run iPrint, so you do not need to install a Netware client.

Thanks for the response - your suggestions were valid. However, I had already set those things up. What I just discovered, though, (and what fixed the problem) was that in order to map to, explore, browse, etc... to the MS server the administrator account MUST HAVE A VALID Password. When I set up the MS box, I intentionally left the Admin. p.w. blank. As soon as I assigned a p.w. to it, mapping from Novell worked fine.

Probably good that it happened since the server needed a valid p.w. anyway.
