Hi,

I want to give access to the administration console of a master server to a non domain administrator user.

So far, I have looked at the Host properties in Authorization and Access Control. Whatever I do there, it doesn't work.

Am I even looking in the right place ?

The non domain administrator user gets the following error :

Unable to conect to the selected NetBAckup host "myhost".
1. Make sure the user "nonadminuser" has priviledges on the host.
2. Marke sure the local host is listed in the server list of the destination host "myhost".
3. Make sure there is a valid network connection.
4. Check authentication.
5. Make sure all the services are running on the host.

So, I followed the steps the error message says :
1. I though the priviledges were in "Authentication" category of the host properties in NetBackup.
2. I though this was in "Access Control" of the host properties of NetBackup.
3. Trust me, there is a valid network connection.
4. authentication, I though this was same as point 1. but I am obviously wrong somewhere.
5. all services are running perfectly fine.

Any Idea ?

thanks

We used to use the windows admin console in our environment quite extensively. The usual issues we had were: had to have workstation in bp.conf file of master and media servers, the servers had to be able to resolve workstation name, and no matter what the book says, you have to stop and start the netbackup services. The reread command doesn't seem to work for adding consoles. We never tried to limit access to the windows consoles, but we now use the java console which can limit what a user can do.
