I have multiple users, who all need access to the datafile.
It's not a secure or really important base, and Access gives me the exact format I need. Now I need all the users to be able to see the database in real time, like a chat room.
Is there a way to do this?

MORE ON THE SAME QUESTION...
I've been reading about a "requery" command, but can not find it, and wonder if such a thing can be used to reload the database every few seconds to each user. Does that make sense, or is it way out in left field?

you do not say how you are accessing this data if via a form then in the forms on timer event me.requery and be sure to set the timer interval.
I would think twice before hitting the server every few seconds.

Actually, I have been accessing by the datafile.
I wish I could find a good, easy to understands article or instructions on how to do this. There are only 10 fields in the base, and only one datafile.
Perhaps it would be better to try to make a chatroom with specified fields of shorter length, and no general discussion field? Again, I am new in this area, and need something that I can study and learn.
Thanks for your help.

By default, Access sets the Refresh rate to every 60 seconds. You can change that via Tools | Options and then select the Advanced tab. However, as gol4 said, you might want to see what kind of load that would put on the network. If you only have 1 record with 10 fields, then it really shouldn't be much of a problem. However, if you have many records with 10 fields, then it could become a problem. If you many records with 10 fields each and/or you see it's a load on the network, let me know. I'll tell you how I handled it.

I discovered that (SHIFT F9) will will requiry the base and show the recent postings from the base. However, as pointed out, it takes a lot of time. My solution to that is to restrict the query to the last 10 or so entries.
Then I began to try to figure out how to do that. As I have said before, I am not really up to speed on Access.
Additionally, this the f9 solution only works if the user keeps punching the keys. I need an automatic solution.
My mind keeps going to the idea of just creating a chatroom facility, with the 10 fields. Now all I have to do is find out how to create that.
