Access stand alone database

basically i have been informed by someone that Access can create stand alone applications, i challenged this but the idividual insisted. so can anyone tell me if this is true. if it is not can someone provide me with a lot of technical info so i can bland him with information and hopefully stop his insistence that access can create .exe files

Hi!

By standalone, i mean executable (be able to run without having any kind of Access installed) the answer is no.

There are some workarounds, mde files and runtime versions, but both need the client to have access installed.

I implement MS Access databases using runtimes (created by myself via the MS Office Developer edition). Whilst you have to be carefull what you do in your database - nothing too fancy - the runtimes do work fine. They are royalty free, and give all of the functionality of the Access app but have removed completely the development environment
