Access Security Question?

I am brand new to Access Security. I have an application that I distribute as an .mde file using Runtime.
I pretty much have the security working like I want as far as log on and passwords.
When I use the security wizard, it creates a backup, a secure icon and a secure file. The only way I can get the secure file to open is by using the shortcut created with the wizard. If I double click on the secure or the securefile, I can not get in, or it is blank.

My Question is:
How do I package my application so that the user can access it?

Thanks,

Thomas,

That's as it should be. When the database is secured, an mdw file is created. That file acts as a gatekeeper to the secured database. You can't get into a properly secured Access database without using that mdw. There are two ways to use an mdw. The first is to join the workgroup, which means making that mdw the default mdw used by access. This is a drag, because it means that you will have to sign in to the mdw every time you use access, whether or not the database you are using a database secured by that mdw. The second, and better, option, is to create a shortcut that calls the mdw, in addition to the database, so that access uses the correct mdw for the database.

This means you will have to distribute the mde, the mdw, and the shortcut.
