Hi there,

I have produced an application using MS Access and a fair amount of VBA but with large tables and complex queries.

The system runs fine on the C drive but when I place the (split) data file, on a server, it takes absolutely ages even for forms to load. Is there any fix for this? I would appreciate some help. With thanks

Try mapping a drive letter to the network folder containing the data, and connecting via this mapping. I have read several references to Access being much faster via a mapped drive, i.e.

Z:\Mydatabase.mdb

is better for Access than

\\Servername\Folder1\Folder2 ... \Databases\MyDatabase.mdb

I have just noticed a similar question to yours, with answers, in thread thread181-1000732.

I hope this helps.

If it helps, I was involved in a mainframe application built by a big consultancy. It worked fine in test but ran as slow as a dog when put into production. It took major re-writing to ovecome the inefficiencies that were masked by the unrepresentive environment. A modern pc is extraordinarily powerful so can do wicked things in the twinkling of an eye. Move to a lan environment and you may then have a shock.

You'll maybe need to go through all the code and make sure you are doing everything with targetted datasets (no tables ever) and no complex SQL.
