I thought there was a way that you could build a run-time file in MS Access so that an end-user could run the database/forms without having a full MS ACCESS version on their PC. Am I correct? If so, how can I do this?

Look in the Access help for "Make an MDE file".

if you are talking about not having to actually install Access from the office CD or from the standalone product CD, then you have to have the office developer edition and create a package w/ the runtime version in it.

"I haven't done it, but I read a lot"...

I think you must have the Developers edition of Access to distribute executable databases to folks who don't have Access. MDE files strip out source code which adds some protection from unauthorized tinkering. However, if my books are correct, the user must still have an installed copy of Access to run MDE.

Bring up Access help and put the following in the Answer Wizard for more info.

"Microsoft Office 2000 Developer contents"
