I have a report that is grouped by a unique number. Within that group each record has a field that contains a code along with a field that stores the time when that event occurred. I need to have a control on the report that shows the total time elapsed between each of the unique numbers.

For example, number 1 occurred at 8am, number 2 occurred at 12noon, and number 3 occurred at 2pm. I need a way to show that number 1 lasted for 4 hours, number 2 lasted for 2 hours, and so on.

I was trying to put elapsed time in the group footer of the unique number. I figured that the report would read the first record, I stored the time in a variable. I thought that when it read the second record thus triggering a new group, I could compare the two numbers. Seeing that they were different, I would then take the time from the second record and print it in the footer of the first group.

The problem is that the report formats all of the data first, so it automatically prints the first record before it reads the next one.

Does anyone know of a way to use a field from a record in a calculation with a previous record? I hope this all makes some sense.

Thanks in advance
