Hello, I am using Access 2000 and trying to create a query that will look at a part number and locate a specific character in a specific or greater than location. For example, I want to search for the letter A in the 8th position or greater. I am confused with the use of *, #, ?, !, -, []. Any suggestions please, thank you very much.

Try
Code:
... like "???????*A*"
The question marks cover the 1st seven positions and the *A* will match a letter A in the remainder.

Another way (SQL snippet):
WHERE InStr(8,[part number field],'A',1)>0

Hope This Helps, PH.
