Hi

I am trying to create a query on a table in access 2000
what i want to do is when you double click on the query, access should ask the user for an ID (which is obviously a field in that table), so when the users enters that id, it should show all the records matching the ID user entered.

I am sure you guyz would know

Thanks

I presume you mean that when you open the query you want it to ask the user for a user ID.

If so then build your query using query builder and select all of the fields you want. Then in the 'criteria' part of the query builder under the User ID field enter your message which you want the user to see on their input box in square brackets, i.e. [Please enter a user ID].
This will them ask the user for their input and find the related records

Hope this helps

Vicky

in the criteria row of the Field you want, in query designer, enter something like this in one of the columns:

[Enter the Data you want]

The unknown field and brackets tell Access to prompt the user. That will be replaced by the actual data the user enters in.
