I maintain shared webfolders accessed over https using webDAV (these are not Network Shares). While they work great, one problem I've been having is that users are opening and editing files directly from the server and in some instances are causing the page file on the server to grow enormously to the point where a reboot is in order. While I've upped the page file limits, there are just some greedy excel files on these shares with tons of macros that are wrecking havoc on my box.
I'd love to force users to have to copy the files to their local machine for opening/editing. However, I still want them to be able to rename, copy, delete, create folders on the share. I just don't want them to be able to open the file remotely. Perhaps I'm stupid, but I don't see a way to do this given the permission hierarchies. It's almost as if I want to allow write but not read permissions... any ideas?
Thanks a bunch. Ray.
