I have been trying to move a large group of pdfs from one drive to another on our server - the current drive it is on is running out of space, so I installed a 140 gig drive on to help out. Everytime I have, I get an error with some of the files - Access is denied, the source file may be in use. I unshare the folder and reboot the server, and these files still give me the error. I am under the network administrator account, so I don't know how I can be getting this if no one has access to these files to have them open and I have full admin rights. It is only a few files, it happens about 30 minutes into moving the files.

Another oddity - the files were created the same day, 5/1/03.

Please help - drive is almost out of space!

That is a strange issue...This is what you might want to try...before even moving the files go to your Task Manager / Processes and End any Acrobat process such as Acro32.exe....and then try to move them...if all Fails what you might want to try is actually Copy and Paste Files to the New directory instead of Moving them?

Good Luck,

he

Open a CMD sesssion (Start, Run, CMD)
Leaving it open, open Task Manager and stop Explorer.exe

Now use DOS-like commands to do the xcopy or copy operations.

When finished, bring up Task Manager again, File, New Task, explorer.exe

Don't forget to delete the files from the source.
